Procedures

  • Endodontist

At Associated Endodontists, P.C., our dentists specialize exclusively in root canals, endodontic retreatment, and surgery to patients in the greater Philadelphia, PA, area. We use the latest state-of-the-art dental equipment, including endodontic microscopes and digital x-rays. We accept most insurances, offer affordable prices, and convenient payment options. Our Philadelphia, PA, dentist practice focuses exclusively on treating the tooth pulp (nerves) and the surrounding tissues of teeth that are diseased, infected, or damaged, in order to prevent tooth loss. Endodontic treatment eliminates painful infection and restores and strengthens the root of the tooth. Our endodontic doctors also perform elective procedures to assist your general dentist in optimal crown and bridge preparation.

  • Endodontics

Endodontics is the specialized branch of dentistry that deals exclusively with the dental pulp and the tissues surrounding the root of the tooth. We offer a range of treatments at our endodontic practice serving Philadelphia, PA. If the inside structure of your tooth is damaged or infected, it can cause further issues and pain. Untreated infections can spread, leading to tooth and bone loss if left untreated. While it may seem easier to simply extract the damaged or infected tooth, saving the tooth structure can prevent you needing dental implants or bone grafting later. When the jawbone no longer has the stimulation the tooth structure provides, it can begin to deteriorate. Our highly trained dentists can address the infection and save the tooth structure. Extractions are only use when the tooth is beyond saving.

  • Root Canal Therapy

Root canals are one of the most common dental procedures. A root canal involves removing the inflamed or infected pulp from a tooth. A dental crown is often used to strengthen and protect the tooth structure following a root canal. A root canal can preserve your natural tooth, potentially eliminating the need for an extraction. If tooth loss occurs, it will need to be replaced with an implant-supported restoration or traditional bridge, which tends to be costlier compared to a root canal. Dealing with a throbbing and aching tooth is stressful. Further, a root canal saves your tooth, which is always ideal. Our practice is able to treat even the most complex of cases to improve your oral health.

  • Endodontic Surgery

There are various surgery options in endodontics but the most common is known as an apicoectomy. This may be needed to eliminate infection or pain from the root apex (root end) and usually in combination with removal of periapical tissue. During the procedure, our endodontic specialist will enter through the base of the tooth. This allows visualization of the root end and provides diagnostic capabilities. The root end(s) can then be treated and a seal can be placed to ideally stop leakage. Once the endodontic surgery is complete, and the damaged tissue has been removed, the pain and infection should be eliminated.

  • Endodontic Retreatment

In some cases, the retreatment of a tooth that previously had a root canal is necessary for a healthy outcome. Our team of endodontists has years of specialized training and experience. During an initial consultation, one of our endodontists will review your case and determine if endodontic retreatment at our Philadelphia practice is right for you. Endodontic retreatment begins by re-entering the tooth to obtain access to the root canal filling material. This may include removal of restorative materials and a post/core. At Associated Endodontists, P.C., we will then remove the old filling material in the roots and clean the canals. We have specialized endodontic microscopes which then allow our endodontists to “look” into each canal of the tooth to allow visualization of the root.
