• Aimee Simpson

  VMD

  Dr.Simpson was born in Philadelphia and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania. After graduating from Pennsylvania State University, she returned to Philadelphia to attend veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated in 2005. Dr.Simpson joined the team at VCA Cat Hospital of Philadelphia in July 2005 and has been here ever since. Dr.Simpson and her boyfriend live in Southern New Jersey with their two cats, Luna and Mr.Miyagi. In her free time she enjoys traveling, staying fit at Lithe Method, and trying to grow a vegetable garden (It's harder than it looks!).

• Nicola Painter

  VMD, Associate Veterinarian

  Dr. Painter is originally from New Jersey but has called Philadelphia her home for quite some time now having moved here to pursue veterinary medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her BA in International Relations from Brown University and spent several years working in the legal and financial fields before pursuing a career change to vet medicine. Following graduation from Penn Vet, Dr. Painter worked in small animal private practice but her love for feline medicine found her way back to the Cat Hospital (where incidentally she had worked as a veterinary technician prior to vet school!). Dr. Painter has particular interests in dentistry, internal medicine, and feline behavior issues. In her spare time Dr. Painter loves to garden and spends most weekends with her partner Jeremy working on their fixer-upper house in East Falls. They share their home with a menagerie of animals, including several rescue cats (Peanut is pictured above) and two dogs rescued from Philadelphia's animal shelter. When asked why she does what she does Dr. Painter said "I chose to be a veterinarian because caring for cats and partnering with families in ensuring happy and healthy lives for feline companions brings me such joy and a true sense of purpose. I feel lucky to have found my calling and privileged to meet and care for so many wonderful feline patients and their incredible families."

• Marjorie van Saun

  VMD, Associate Veterinarian

  Dr. van Saun was born and raised in upstate New York, and attended Binghamton University for her undergraduate studies in Biology. Following college, she moved one state south to Pennsylvania to attend veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated in 2014. Dr. van Saun spent the next year working with both cats and dogs at a private practice in the suburbs of Philadelphia, only to quickly realize that feline medicine was the only medicine for her! Dr. van Saun enjoys many aspects of working with cats, but is interested particularly in feline environmental enrichment and nutrition. Dr. van Saun lives in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia with her significant other and their cat Lucky aka "Mama Bear." In her free time she enjoys hiking, crocheting, and exploring the Fishtown/Kensington area. When asked why she does what she does Dr. van Saun said "I like to work with cats because I feel that they are under-served and often misunderstood creatures. Forming partnerships with cat owners to become advocates for feline health and happiness is very important to me and is what I love to do every day."
