Michael E Ellery
AttorneyAttorney Michael E. Ellery knows how insurance adjusters and defense attorneys think – because he started out his career in these roles. Today, he exclusively represents injured people as an integral part of our firm. When Mr. Ellery graduated from the University of Arizona in 1987 with his bachelor’s degree, he worked as an insurance adjuster. In fact, he worked for two of the biggest insurance companies in the nation before becoming a lawyer – an experience that would later give him a unique insider’s view into insurance companies’ practices. In 1995, Mr. Ellery earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Widener University School of Law. For more than 15 years, he would handle both plaintiff work – on behalf of the people bringing a legal claim – and defense work, on behalf of the people being sued. In March 2008 Mr. Ellery began representing plaintiffs exclusively. In addition to his experience handling plaintiff and defense work as an attorney, Mr. Ellery has served in other roles in the legal community. For more than a decade, he has been a certified arbitrator in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. He’s hired by other lawyers to help resolve their cases through private arbitration and mediation, to the benefit of both parties. He has also been a Judge Pro Tempore in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas for several years, a role which involves acting as a mediator in settlement conferences, where the goal is again to resolve claims without having to take them to trial. Mr. Ellery lives in Haddonfield with his wife and their children. His oldest son is married and he recently celebrated the birth of his first grandchild. In addition to spending time with his family, his personal interests include reading, physical fitness, and watching his children play sports.
