She loves helping others find relief from pain, anxiety, and depression, and she even helps women during pregnancy. “My favorite part is connecting with patients,” Marlene Burk says. “It’s fascinating to get a glimpse into their lives as I look for ways to help them heal. I also like to open their minds to new habits that can impact their health.” When she’s not with patients, Marlene Burk likes to continually expand her acupuncture expertise through research, spend time with her son and cat, cross-stitch, do jigsaw puzzles, and travel the world.

    From the time Dr. Latha Cherath was 8 years old, she wanted to take care of the sick and dying and provide care and comfort as only a physician could. So, after she finished her residency in Internal Medicine, becoming a hospitalist was a natural fit. “It was an honor to serve seniors during their hospital stays, but I missed the continuity of care” she says, and that was why she chose to join ChenMed. “I am dedicated to caring for seniors with the dignity and respect they deserve.” Dr. Cherath especially enjoys listening to her patients’ stories and providing education to support their health. Dr. Cherath has traveled around the world and volunteered in refugee camps and in medical clinics serving the poor. When she’s away from work, Dr. Cherath loves to spend time with her husband and children, listen to podcasts, read, write, go on long hikes, watch movies, and listen to music.

Her favorite part of her profession is empowering and educating her patients. “I firmly believe in disease prevention and health promotion,” she explains. She loves seeing her patients take control over their health. To unwind after work, Tien Nguyen enjoys visiting the beach and listening to music. In the future, she hopes to travel to her native country, Viet Nam, as well as other countries in Southeast Asia.

    Dr. Rose Lee has always found the human body fascinating. She loves making a difference in people’s lives and prides herself on being “an excellent listener.” She explains, “I am compassionate and try to understand each patient’s background and situation that may influence their emotional and physical well-being.” She emphasizes the importance of prevention and healthy choices in her practice. “I hope this motivates my patients to become active participants in their healthcare decisions, ultimately leading to healthier people,” she says. Dr. Lee strives to be a role model for her children. She loves nature and enjoys hiking with her dogs. She is proud of her Korean ethnicity and is trying to improve her proficiency in the language.

    In high school, Dr. Owen Morris knew he wanted to make a positive difference in people’s lives through a career in healthcare. “My favorite part of podiatry is meeting new patients. There is something new and different every day,” he says. He strives to address all his patients’ questions and concerns. “Making them feel heard is the most important thing,” he says. He emphasizes the importance of preventative medicine in his practice and takes pride in advocating for the senior population. “My door is always open, and I am happy to listen and help in any way I can,” he says. In his free time, Dr. Morris enjoys going to Sixers, Phillies, and Eagles games. He also likes cooking and relaxing with his cat.

    Dr. Yao-Chieh Cheng “always advocates for quality of life.” He first became inspired to study medicine after witnessing his grandfather’s battle with cancer. “I wanted to help patients and their families navigate complex diseases and provide a safe space to discuss their concerns about their health,” he says. He likes having frequent visits with patients to “address each health concern in more detail.” He adds, “It is a privilege to earn their confidence and witness their bravery when they discuss challenges and concerns about their health.” Dr. Cheng loves relaxing with his wife in his free time. He shares that he has spent time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mozambique and worked on infectious disease research in Papua New Guinea.

  • David Duong

    MD, MSEE

    As a child, Dr. David Duong saw many people wounded or killed during the Vietnam War, and it made him want to become a doctor. While he pursued an engineering path first, Dr. Duong did ultimately become a board-certified internal medicine physician and has cared for patients of all ages over the years. “I enjoy building strong, trusting relationships with my senior patients,” he says. “As we work together, I like to educate them on healthy lifestyles and preventing illness.” When he’s not providing compassionate care, Dr. Duong keeps up with medical research, reading literature, church activities, and his children who are currently in college. He also loves international travel, and his favorite destination so far has been Vatican City.
